Enterprise Oxfordshire
Welcome
Letter from the CEO
Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair for Enterprise Oxfordshire, launched in April 2025 following the rebrand from OXLEP Ltd as we continue to deliver the same high quality support for our businesses and communities across the County.
Originally established in 2012, the work of the company has been recognised nationally and locally, galvanising the private and public sectors efforts to support sustainable economic and social outcomes. We have together secured over £1bn of investment into the county and leveraged a further £2.2bn into the Counties infrastructure, commercial, retail and residential programmes/projects.
The new Board and this role specifically will oversee the next chapter in our journey whilst the national Devolution and Local Government Reform discussions progress. We have recently set an interim business plan and budget allowing us to maintain momentum whilst reviewing future Council/operational programme priorities, national government policy and therefore setting a medium term 3 year plan and budget over the period 2026/27 – 2028/29. Our focus remains on supporting our operational priorities set by Oxfordshire County Council and Governments Devolution and Industrial Strategy priorities.
This is therefore a fantastic opportunity to help us shape the future of Enterprise Oxfordshire and in turn work towards supporting the ambition of Oxfordshire being a safer, greener and fairer and sustainable county for the benefit of all who live and work here.
We are looking for someone who understands the Socio-Economic landscape of Oxfordshire, is aware of the wider political change which will be driven by Devolution policy and importantly demonstrate a passion for what we do; a dynamic and pragmatic drive to help us succeed economically on a local, national and international stage. We want you to bring your skills and experience of Senior/C-Suit business leadership, gained in a relevant business context to lead the Board and a formidable Executive team with unrivalled operational experience and outstanding track record of delivery spanning the last 12 years.
You will be one of three Non-Executive Board Directors accountable to the County Council Shareholder Committee, Chaired by the Leader of the Council. You will, as Chair of the Board, and along with your fellow directors lead and advocate for the work of the company whilst advising and recommending future operational priorities to the Shareholder Committee.
We recognise this role will be demanding and time commitment significant therefore finding the right balance for us will be essential. We want you to be successful and therefore finding the right person, one who will lead us through our journey and help us play our part in delivering for Oxfordshire now and into the medium term.
We are looking forward to hearing from you, in the interim, should you wish to have an informal discussion about the role then that can be arranged.
